MY FRIEND FROM TUSKEGEE,ALABAMA IS A BIG FAN OF THE BLUES AND SOUTHERN SOUL MUSIC.SHE SHARES WITH US HER CONCERT REVIEWS. "O.B. BUCHANA & MS. JODY" Hi GUYS, Hope that everyone is well and had a wonderful Labor Day. It has been a while since I've written a review but naturally when I told Big K that I was going to a show, he asked that I write a review and take some pics. Well, obviously, it won't be as good as K's but I'll shoot my best shot...here it is... On this past friday night I had the opportunity to see Ecko recording artist, MZ. JODY, at the frontstreet entertainment in Montgomery, Alabama. In tow was her special guest, none other than, MR. O.B. BUCHANA!!! Upon entering the building, the DJ had the mood just right by playing artists such as the late-great, Lil' Milton, Roy C, David Brinston, Donnie Ray & Ida B. Knight, Luther Lackey and one of our own,the sexy lady of southern soul, RONI. The show kicked off at about 10:30. Without a doubt, the crowd went "crazy" as O.B. walked out on stage singing his new release, "Come and Get It While He's Gone". His next number was "I'm Goin' Back Home" which is also the title of his new cd. "Booty Movement", another cut from his new cd, is a great dance-party number. and, of course, the crowd was standing on their feet as he did this selection. He took the audience back to his first cd by doing "Hurt By Love". As he did "Lollipop"--new release--he started advertising "the tongue". Those women were screaming so loud that I thought I'd get dizzy and pass out...and, for a second, I wondered if my heart was still beating...'cause I couldn't hear it over the screams. The audience had been asking for "I'm Gonna Sleep With It In It" for a while. However, he explained that he could only do a certain number of songs...but that he wanted to please his fans...and, that's exactly what the "GENTLE GIANT" did. The crowd erupted like a volcano as soon as he belted out, "WELL, THIS SONG IS ABOUT SOMETHING THAT EVERYBODY..." the whole room was filled with adrenaline! and, although we were begging and pleading for more, he ended the show with one of his popular hits from his first cd, "Backup Lover". O.B. is such a down-to-earth person and an outstanding entertainer!!! The crowd gave a thunderous ovation as MZ. JODY walked onto the stage singing Peggy Scott-Adams', "I'm Gettin' What I Want". It was easy to see that the audience was very pleased with the selection. and, like O.B., indeed, she is a crowd-pleaser! The next number was her rendition of Shirley Brown's "Too Much Candy". Afterwards, she did numbers from her latest cd. "Sugar Daddy" stirred the crowd!!! MZ. JODY asked three SUGAR DADDYS to come from the audience and sit in chairs that had been positioned on the stage. As she stood in front of one of the guys, she asked him what did he want her to do to him,the guy emphatically said, "anything that u want to do!" when MZ. JODY started moving all erotic, exotic and sensuous on him, I just knew that the man would faint and fall off his chair. Her next number was "When the Rent is Due". She did another Shirley Brown selection, "Sleep With One Eye Opened". As she did her number, "Know How to Work It", she explained to the women how she pleases "her" man and, as the women did for O.B., the guys were yelling--and barking--so loud when she advertised "the tongue". Everyone jumped on their feet as she did, "Your Dog is About to Kill My Cat". One fan had been begging for this song from the time Mz. JODY walked across the stage. She closed the show with "Big Daddy Don't You Come." Like O.B., MZ. JODY is a great entertainer!!! I look forward to seeing her perform again in the very near future. Hope that you guys enjoyed the review and pics. Oh yeah,Big K, O.B. and MZ. JODY asked that I tell u "HELLO".
Until next time...
love, peace and happiness--DOT
