JULY 7,2009: MY GOOD FRIEND HAZEL a.k.a. "MUSIC LADY" FROM TALLAHASSEE,FLORIDA IS A BIG FAN OF THE BLUES AND SOUTHERN SOUL MUSIC.SHE SHARES WITH US HER CONCERT REVIEW FROM A RECENT BLUES FESTIVAL HELD IN BILOXI,MISSISSIPPI. "2ND ANNUAL BILOXI BLUES FESTIVAL" America's birthday kicked off in Biloxi, MS with a bang as Herman Wilson's 2nd annual Biloxi Blues Fest began. Wow! what a show it was. The show was hosted by 92.5's (THE BEAT) Lady D and the host DJ pumpin out the pre-show sounds was none other than A.J. (Big Baby) Brown. And of course the Lady Sherlon (picture lady) was on hand once again doing her magic. I gotta give a shout out to my friend DJ Krip (William Shankin) of Troy,AL, who showed up to surprise and support Walter Waiters (surprised me too...LOL). This heart stopping energetic show kicked off with a bang as my good friend Walter Waiters took to the stage. Walters show began with his version of Your Man is Home Tonight and immediately the crowd was on it's feet and dancing in the isles. Walt didn't stop there he kept them entertained with Walking The Dog and had the ladies screaming for more. As usual Walter Waiters gave the audience what they came for with a show that never fails to be better than his last. Doing songs such as Don't Scratch My Back, The Blues is Alright, My Life, Hurt Before You Heal, My Life, What Happens in The Club (Stays in the Club) and my favorite, It Don't Hurt No More. Awesome show Walter, keep makin it do what it do. And then it happened....the wonderfully talented Jeff Floyd took to the stage and the women were already on their feet in anticipation of what Jeff would bring. Jeff did a few slow songs so the ladies could rest after that heart stopping performance by Walter Waiters and then he hit em' with Planning my Weekend and before they could catch their breath Jeff was "Shakin Sumpn Loose". This show was truly in high gear by now and showed no signs of ever stopping as Jeff performed hit after hit...hits like Lonely Highway, Somebody's Gonna Lose A Good Woman Tonight. King Size Bed, Tell Me Where You Want Me To Put It, Let's Get It On, Heaven Right Here On Earth. No doubt he closed the show with Lock My Door. Jeff is not just an Amazing Talent, the ladies love that smooth chocolate and oh so handsome man.....Fantastic Show Jeff! The show was closed with none other than the Gentle Giant of Southern Soul himself, Mr O. B. Buchanna. O. B. brought a few friends to the show with him. Hanging out with him were other Ecko recording artists Luther Lackey and Ms. Jody. The Gentle Giant came to the stage prepared to take up the gauntlet thrown by Walter and Jeff. I Don't need to tell you how that went, cause you already know. But i'll tell you anyway...LOL. O.B. kicked off his high energy set with Excuse Me Lady and kept the hits coming. Doing favorites like Ain Wearin No Drawz, Booty Scoot, It's All Over, I Been Gone Too Long, Is He good to You, Back Up Lover and...yep you guessed it....He's Just Playin Wit It. The prelude to "He's Just Playin Wit It" was a skit performed by O.B., Herman Wilson, and Walter Waiters that had the crowd screaming as Herman threatened O.B. that he just COULD NOT sing that song and Walter insisting that he MUST sing the song. The crowd was going wild as Herman admitted defeat and the Gentle Giant gave the crowd more of what they came for. Outstanding performance O.B. No doubt about it....Herman Wilson is, in my opinion, one of the best promoters out there. He has brought some of the most awesome talent to the Gulfport/Biloxi area. This weekend was no exception. Keep makin it happen Herman! This show was definitely worthy of being called "FIREWORKS"!
