THIS PAGE CONTAINS CONCERT REVIEWS FROM MY FRIEND HAZEL"MUSIC LADY"WILLIAMS FROM TALLAHASSEE,FLORIDA. DECEMBER 6,2006: "JEFF FLOYD" Last night the Top Flite Club in Tallahassee was brought to life by the Dynamic Jeff Floyd. His highly energetic performance was truly what the grown folks of T'town needed. The magic that is Jeff was spread in abundance when he opened with an old Teddy P hit, I Don't Love You Anymore. He followed this up with a lot of his own hits, You Had It All, Let Me Know, I Got My Woman Upset, Somebody's Gonna Lose A Good Woman Tonight and You're My Magic Girl. His rendition of Maze's Before I Let You Go had the crowd on their feet and singing along with him. They were dancin in the aisles for this young man and while they were still up he went right into Mel Waiter's Got My Whiskey. Whewwwwwwwwww what a performance!! He followed this up with Swing Out For Love, Let's Get It On and I Got Heaven Right Here On Earth. To everybodys delight he did a medley of Bobby Womack's If You Think You're Lonely Now and That's The Way I feel about you. Needless to say he closed the show with the song that took him to fames door, I Found Love (On A Lonely Highway). If you have not had the chance to see this young man perform....please do so! You won't be disappointed OCTOBER 6,2007: THIS REVIEW WAS PROVIDED BY MY DEAR FRIEND,HAZEL"MUSIC LADY" WILLIAMS AT A COUPLE OF RECENT SHOWS BY MY FRIEND WALTER WAITERS AND "THE BLUES IN THE PARK CONCERT" SPONSORED BY MY FRIEND,HERMAN WILSON. "WALTER WAITERS" Another storm struck the Gulf Coast this weekend and tore up everything in it's path! This powerful category 5 storm named Walter Waiters first struck Friday night in Gulfport, MS at the Turning Point Blues Lounge. Walter's ability to get a crowd pumped up is truly amazing. He rocked the place with old favorites like Love of Mine, The Blues is Alright, Turning Point, Hole in the Wall and Let's Straighten It Out, as well as his own songs, Twerk It, What Happens in the Club, Don't Scratch My Back and Careful Woman. His rendition of Buddy Ace's It Don't Hurt No More is my favorite. Each time Walter does this song it just get's better and better. After it's destruction of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the storm moved east to Pensacola, FL and the Apollo Club. As with most artists, I expected this show to be a repeat of the previous night. People let me tell you, that just wasn't the case with this dynamic young Blues Man. Walter Waiters is one of the most talented performers I have ever seen. Although he did do some of the same songs, the presentation was different and he did some songs that he did not do before. His song Twerk It got special attention from a dance troupe. They had created a dance called Twerkin It and performed it to the delight of Walter and the Crowd. Walter has no trouble getting crowd participation whether it is to dance with him or to sing with him. Needless to say....A Walter Waiters show is a must see!! "BLUES IN THE PARK" One word "WOW", says it all for this event. The Pecan Park Ballfield in Delisle Mississippi was the place to be on Sunday afternoon. There were close to 5,000 in attendance. The show was kicked off by Luther Lackey, no doubt a favorite to the good folks of Mississippi. He wooed the crowd and really got them pumped up with his hits. Scared of Gettin Caught had them singing along with him. The show was just getting warmed up when Walter Waiters took to the stage. Mind you, this was Walter's firt Festival performance. Whewwwwwww he took to it like a fish to water. Another amazing performance by Walter! During his performance of Rufus Thomas' Walking the Dog, Walter was joined on stage by American Blues Network's Beverly McDowell for a crowd pleasing dance set. It was a true show stopper! GREAT JOB WALTER....YOU HAVE ARRIVED!!! T.K. Soul took the stage next to the delight of the crowd. He started out with his Tight Blue Jeans hit and the crowd moved in closer to the stage. This was no surprise. This extremely talented young man is a true Crowd pleaser. His performance is energetic. By now I was getting tired but I was determined to stick around for Kenne Wayne and O.B. Buchanna's performances. I'm glad I did too. Kenne Wayne was truly spectacular. Doing favorites like The Party Ain't Over, A and B Conversation, and my favorite, Angel. O. B. Buchanna, another Mississippi favorite, also gave an awesome performance. His remake of Booty Scoot really got the crowd going as did his hit song "It's Over". Unfortunately I was tired and did not stay for the final performance by Steve Perry. All in all I think the first annual Blues in the Park Festival was a huge success and I look forward to going back next year. Congratulations to all the Down Home Blues Group Members who were a part of this spectacular event....Herman Wilson, who promoted this event, and entertainers Walter Waiters and Kenne Wayne for their outstanding performances!!!! WALTER WAITERS & O.B. BUCHANA" Happy Birthday O.B.Buchanna!! Mobile, AL was the setting for the start of the weekend long celebration for O.B.'s birthday! What a night it was. The show opened with Walter Waiters as he captivated the audience at the Midway Lounge in Mobile with such hits as My Hat, Don't Scratch My Back, (my favorite) What Happens In The Club, Old School Woman, Something I Can Feel, Free Agent, Night Time is The Right Time, (his new hit) Somewhere. Walter closed out his set with It Don't Hurt No More. It was another awesome performance by Walter and the crowd adored him. Once again Walter was joined on stage for a dance routine with the incomparable Beverly McDowell of WDLT and the American Blues Network. Way to go Walter! Another outstanding performance! The Man of the Hour, O.B. Buchanna, kicked off his set with Excuse Me Lady and Booty Scoot, taking the already hiped crowd to another level. He rocked the house with hits like It's All Over, Love and Happiness, You Can Be a Fool and Don't Know It, My Husband Don't Make Love Like My Man. The place really came apart when he sang Let's Get Drunk. This had them dancin in the isles. He did a tribute to Little Milton as well. Then he rocked the house again as he belted out everybody's favorite, Back up Lover and That's My Badd and Knock Three Times. He was joined on stage by Walter and surprise guest James Payne. James also wooed the crowd with his performance of his hit song "I Ain't Gone Bump No More With a Big Fat Woman. O.B. then sang his tribute to his home town, Clarksdale My Home Town and closed the show with I Got Caught. The Birthday party for O.B. continues Sunday night in Jackson, Ms where he and Walter will perform at the Central City Complex. Check em out!! Hazel OCTOBER 9,2006 THIS REVIEW WAS PROVIDED BY MY GOOD FRIENDS FROM JOMAR RECORDS(www.jomarrecords.com) "RENEA MITCHELL" Renea Mitchell opens for Legendary Soul Artist, Lenny Williams! Renea and the Last Edition band set Columbus, MS on fire this weekend (October 7, 2006). Renea Mitchell's performance and showmanship were excellent! Backed up by the super-tight, Last Edition Band made her show very entertaining. Legendary Soul Artist, Carl Sims said "This girl is a going all the way to the top". Renea opened up Her set with a blazing hot rendition of Anita Wards smash hit single, Ring My Bell, followed by the second single off her album Dirty Woman, then the sultry and smoldering, Somebody's Cutting My Cake. Renea did a magnificent job of singing Chaka Kahn's, Sweet Thing (amazing performance!). She closed the set with a blistering live version of Seventeen Days of Loving and got the crowd involved singing the song! Watch out for the Seventh Avenue Promo DVD coming soon!
